Ooops. Today's issue is a bit late. Sorry. I start juggling my projects and sooner or later something drops. Actually, I could have emailed you yesterday but I wanted to give you more value. Punching Through To Success

One summer day I was enjoying a care free, fun-filled drive by the beach when suddenly I felt bad. I noticed that my faith was lowered and self-esteem was hurt. My dreams seemed blurry, farther away and distant. A jolt of fear ran through my body. 

Here's the startling part...


This happens to people every single day and it's probably happened to you. Unfortunately, when it happens most people don't know what happened and they're are not able to stop it. But by the time you finish reading this article you will know precisely what happened, when it happened and how to conquer this enemy.

Here's what happened...

I was hit with a flurry of negative thoughts, one stunning blow after another. It was so fast and so automatic that I didn't see the punches but I felt the painful impact! You see, my mind has a 'little voice' that constantly talks to me. We all do.Did you know that up to 99% of our thoughts are automatic and unconscious? That's right. Cognitive psychologists focus on what they call 'automatic thoughts'. 'Automatic Thoughts' occur without any conscious awareness except for the feelings they create. That's when we consciously feel their impact (but we still might not become aware of the thoughts that created the feelings). How do you handle the impact? Actually you can follow the same steps as a boxer who's just gotten punched but not knocked out...

Step #1

Shake it off - You might even laugh because you've caught the devil in action (laughter is great medicine)
- Just becoming aware of what happened is reason for celebration
- Now you can handle it! - See it as an opportunity for learning (step 4 tells you how )
- just using these insights will lessen the impact

Step #2

Confirm that success can be just over the horizon even when things look bleak... 
- bamboo plants show no sign of growth for 2 years then in just 2 weeks they spring up 10 feet...
- Remember the quote from Napoleon Hill "WHEN RICHES BEGIN TO COME THEY COME SO QUICKLY, IN SUCH GREAT ABUNDANCE, THAT ONE WONDERS WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN HIDING DURING ALL THOSE LEAN YEARS"

Acknowledge that most people quit just before achieving success - not you, you are a finisher!

Step #3

Now it's time to fight back - Throw your own mental combination punches and knock-out the negative thoughts . Think to yourself with emotional intensity and resolve...

Punch #1 I'm committed to achieving more success everyday (jab)
Punch #2 My dreams desires and goals are worth fighting for (right hook)
Punch #3 My best is yet to come and every day I get better (upper-cut)
Punch #4 I will never, ever quit (KNOCK-OUT)

Step #4

Identify and eliminate the enemy (optional) Those 'bad' thoughts can be unresolved conflicts and challenges in your life. They tend to pop up over and over again. So stopping the bad thoughts is worth the effort.

    1. Remove the emotional connection (don't judge, just be open and accepting)
    2. Think like Sherlock Holmes - look for mental clues
    3. Ask yourself: "What was I thinking just before I started feeling bad?"
    4. Identify the chain of thoughts that led to that bad feeling
    5. Break the chain of thoughts so it never creates the bad feelings

So the next time you find yourself feeling bad. Smile because you have the power to win the war against bad thoughts. And you can win by a knockout!
