Quote Of The Day

"Habit is a cable; We weave a thread of every day, and at last we cannot break it.”

Horace Mann

"The individual who wants to reach the top in business must appreciate the force of habits-and must understand that practices are what create habits."

J. Paul Getty, How To Be Rich

Hello High-Achiever,

--- Welcome to MARK'S CORNER ---

Ok folks. Last week I mentioned that my sister had gotten a part-time job. Well, I'm happy to say that she now has a full-time job. So she's making good progress.

I, on the other hand, started a really bad habit ...'Staying in bed'. I used to think I was horrible at selling until one morning last week.... that morning my alarm clock buzzzeed me awake.

The alarm clock is strategically positioned a step away from my bed (forcing me to get out of bed to shut it off). I turned it off and then, instead of brainlessly jumping up, I thought to myself...  How good would it feel to fall back into bed? ...so I fell back into bed... then I thought to myself... 'This bed feels so warm, comfortable and I deserve a break, today.'

That was all the selling it took... I stayed in bed... FOR AN EXTRA 3 HOURS!

That's 3 hours I could have worked on achieving my 'Think And Grow Rich' dreams (instead of my sandman dreams).

The danger is pointed out in today's top quote. Every time we do something a thread of habit is created. Eventually that thread becomes a steel cable that we can not break. Unfortunately, that's true for bad habits. And if the habit feels good (even if it's ultimately bad for us) then our nervous system instinctively works against us. Just as Pavlov, with his salivating dogs, proved decades ago.

Tomorrow morning I'm back to brainlessly jumping out of bed. If I don't get up early I will throw myself out of bed. So if the next issue is a little late you'll know I threw myself out of bed once too often :-)

By the way, did you get yesterday's clue on a today's mystery millionaire? Do you know who it is?

Take a look at the main article and find out...

--- MAIN ARTICLE ----

Do You Know This Young Millionaire?

As a kid he had a stuttering problem. He got rid of the problem by doing his vocal exercises at night as he talked to his dog. With persistence he eliminated that stutter. And by age 22 he was a multimillionaire. His intense competitive streak comes from his mom. Do you know this guy?

Actually, I hesitated to write about this fellow because he's so famous. But recently I heard an interview with Ed Bradley on 60 Minutes where he revealed how he used a number of Napoleon Hill's steps to riches. His name is Eldrick Woods but many call him Tiger.

When he was young, Tiger asked his dad. "Can you make me tough?"    "Yes, but you won't like it" his dad (a former Green Beret) said. That's an example where Tiger at a very early age used the 9th step to riches... The mastermind. Today he's as tough as nails... just ask his competitors.

And Ed Bradley, during the interview, asked "Do you expect to win?"

Tiger said "Yes, every time. Always. As an athlete and professional you have to have a belief in yourself". Tiger has faith. And of course faith is the second step to riches.

But Napoleon Hill's subtitle of the chapter on faith was "VISUALIZATION OF, AND BELIEF IN ATTAINMENT OF DESIRE". Which brings us back to Ed Bradley's interview.

He asked "Do you ever just want to play?" Tiger said "I like to go out in the evenings and I imagine myself playing against Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicholas. It's down to the last shot and I've got a chance to win the U.S. Open".

Ed Bradley said "It's almost like an obsession". Tiger responded "Yes, it is. It's an addiction"

Here's what Napoleon Hill said

"What a different story men would have to tell if only they would adopt a DEFINITE PURPOSE, and stand by that purpose until it had time to become an all-consuming obsession!"

Napoleon Hill

Tiger's obsession has made him arguably the best golfer in the world. And, just like Napoleon Hill said, he has a different story to tell. What about you? Do you have a different story to tell?

It's time that I ask you.

Do you have a magnificent obsession?

Do you imagine your success more easily and often then your fears?

Do you have faith in your ability to become wealthy? I know you can do it. What is your ideal vision of success?

Go ahead and meditate on these questions. Enjoy them. And when someone asks you 'Do you expect to succeed?"

Answer like Tiger Woods

--- FUNNY OF THE DAY ----

Funny of The Day:

An employer approached the young lad in the stockroom and asked, "Do you believe in life after death, young fellow?"

"No. I'm sorry I don't." "Well, then maybe you can explain your grandfather coming into this office an hour after you went to his funeral"

Well, that's all for today. And don't forget to... Think And Grow Rich!
